Cookie Policy
Last updated: 13 October 2026
A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to keep. This page lists every cookie this site uses, what each is for and how to refuse them. What we do with your details is in the privacy policy.
The cookies we use
| Name | Whose | Kept for | What it is for |
|---|---|---|---|
PHPSESSID | Ours | Until you close the browser | Keeps your visit together, so that the quote form works from its first step to its last and we know which advert or link brought you. The site needs it. |
cf_clearance | Cloudflare, on our address | Up to 1 year | Shows that Cloudflare, which protects the site from attacks, has already checked your browser is not a robot. The site needs it. |
_gcl_au | Google Ads, on our address | 90 days | Lets Google Ads count how many visits from our adverts end in a quote request. |
_gcl_aw | Google Ads, on our address | 90 days | Only if you came from one of our Google adverts: keeps Google's reference for that click. |
_gcl_ls | Google Ads, in the browser's local storage | Until it is cleared | The same reference, kept a second way. |
GCL_AW_P | Google (google.com, googleadservices.com, doubleclick.net) | 90 days | Only if you came from one of our Google adverts: Google's own copy of the reference for that click. |
test_cookie | Google (doubleclick.net) | 15 minutes | Checks whether your browser accepts cookies. |
crc-moving-checklist-v1, crc-who-to-notify-v1, crc-boxcalc | Ours, in the browser's local storage | Until you clear it | Only if you use the moving house checklist, the who-to-notify list or the packing box calculator: the boxes you ticked and the answers you chose, so that they are still there when you come back. It stays in your browser and is never sent to us. |
Two kinds
Cookies the site needs
PHPSESSID and cf_clearance. Without them the quote form cannot be sent and the site cannot be protected, so they are set on every page.
Advertising cookies
The Google cookies. We advertise on Google, and these tell us which adverts lead to quote requests, so that we pay only for the ones that work. They are set by the pages with a quote form and by the page that thanks you for your request. They hold a reference number, never your name, email address, phone number or address. If you are signed in to Google, Google can connect the visit with your account under its own privacy rules.
We use no other advertising, analytics or social media cookies.
What the moving tools remember
Not cookies: the moving house checklist, the who-to-notify list and the packing box calculator keep your ticks and answers in your own browser, so that you can come back to them. Nothing of it is sent to us or to anyone else. "Clear ticks" on either list empties it, and clearing this site's data in your browser's settings removes all three.
How to refuse cookies
- The Google cookies on Google's addresses: block third-party cookies in your browser's settings, usually under "Privacy".
- The Google cookies on our address (the three whose names start
_gcl): delete them in your browser's settings whenever you like. A browser or add-on that blocks advertising trackers stops them being set at all. The site works exactly the same without them. - All cookies: every browser can block them in its settings. If you block them all for this site, the quote form will not be able to send your request.
aboutcookies.org shows how to do each of these in your browser.
Changes
When the cookies on the site change, this page is changed with them and given a new date.
